Description
Marionette dolls have strings attached to joints along their bodies so that a skilled puppeteer can manipulate their bodies and tell certain stories through them. The dolls themselves possess no autonomy. In Carl Jung’s work, one thing we learn is that people do not just have ideas, Ideas have people. There’s so much to unpack in that statement, but let me clarify my understanding with the book of Ephesians in the Bible. In chapter 6, we discover that our struggle in life is not with other people as it often seems. Instead, our battle is with unseen authorities and powers in the hidden realms. These are ideas, and forces who are at war with you and me.
Resistance is posing a question about why we respond to stimulus in the way we do. What do we jump at somethings drawing up our toes to avoid it? This battle we are in is for our hearts, attention, and loyalty. Whom do you serve?
