Description

There is a kind of jeweler’s monocle over the man’s eye. The important thing to note about that is that the image in the monocle only renders correctly at the appropriate distance. Too close and the image distorts, too distant and the image blurs into nonsense. But at the right distance, the image clarifies, the beauty of the gem before the lens is seen in it’s radiance.

Too often find I see others, especially those closest to me, not as they truly are, but as I mistake them to be. I choose to be offended, not because I have been wronged, but because I think I have been wronged.

Lamentation is a meditation. A form of repentance for not perceiving in generosity those closest to me. When I am old, I beg- dear God, may the lens I see others through be one of generosity, and not of contempt.
